In Fabien Dettori's work, painting and photography interpenetrate and fertilize each other. His still life photographs, vestiges of memory, come to life again before our amazed eyes. Fabien Dettori's quest to capture the living, the photographer's paradox of permanently assigning movement, are expressed in the latent violence of a writing at the surface of the skin.
The photograph represent a classical still life scene. It was shot in 2017 by the artist and shown at Galerie Thierry Bigaignon in December 2018.
Fabien Dettori uses a very special technique: once the Polaroid shot taken, he proceeds to an emulsion lift to separate the gelatin from the paper and then fixes the gelatin onto a 24 carat golden leaf. The whole image is then mounted on a wooden board. It is presented in a 30x30 passe-partout. A little jewel!
